About

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website.  For me photography is a combination of art and passion.  My desire to photograph began when digital cameras did not exist, or at least weren't available to consumers.

I love photography of all kinds!  I am an experienced studio and outdoor photographer, and have an advanced level of understanding in lighting, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, Lightroom, Photoshop, etc.

For equipment I originally started with an Olympus OM-1 and my first DSLR was a Nikon D100.  I enjoyed shooting so much that began shooting studio photography in 2008 and have been hooked ever since.  I am also experienced in using reflectors and diffusers with natural light both indoors and outdoors.  My photography equipment consists of four strobes on a single adjustable power supply when stationary.  For on-location/events I use a combination of Flashpoint Rovelight strobes and off camera speedlights.  For light modifiers I use softboxes, umbrellas, grids, snoots, barn doors, diffusers, reflectors, and gels.  I have five backgrounds – white, black, blue, brown/tan, grey, plus chroma key for adding digital backgrounds.  I also have collapsible grey, white, and black backgrounds for single portraits.  For cameras I have a Nikon D7200 and Nikon D750.  For lenses I use a Sigma 24mm 1.8, Nikon 50mm 1.8, Sigma 17-50mm 2.8 (DX), Nikon 24-70mm 2.8 (FX), and a Nikon 70-200mm 2.8 (FX).  My speedlights are a Nikon SB-900, Nikon SB-800, and two Yongnuo YN 568 EX’s.

About me:  I am originally from Washington State but have lived in the Washington D.C. area since 2010.  I spent 17 years living overseas in Germany, Finland, Ukraine, Russia, United Arab Emirates, Greece, Colombia, and Italy.  I currently work as a consultant with Veterans Affairs in Washington, DC.  Other than photography I enjoy camping, hiking, fishing and boating.    I would be thrilled to do what I love and have the opportunity to work with you!
